Fynbos festival art play date
This was Kid Aid's first collaboration with Slovo Centre of Excellence at Emzini Restaurant, Westdene. Thanks to the restaurant's event hosts, the children from the Slovo informal settlement were given the opportunity to explore their creativity through painting.
The day started off at the Westdene Dam, where Aunty Debbie led games and told the children the heartfelt story which inspired the existence of the Park. The kids also had a chance take to walk around the park, where they were amazed to see some ducks and they quickl jumped at the opportunity to have fun at the play area.
Once the children were hyped up, together with their facilitators (Kaone, Debbie and Nteboheleng), they headed to the Emzini Restaurant which is opposite the park, to enjoy their paint session. The theme for the day was our beautiful and fascinating national flower, the Protea.
After a lovely art session, the children, along with their facilitators and event hosts, returned to the Westdene Dam Park to enjoy lunch, have their faces beautifully painted by St Endas Secondary School top students and capture some memories. 📸
